What is a Domain Name

In simple words, a domain name is the address you type into a browser address bar to get to a Website. For example the Domain Name of Facebook is facebook.com. A domain name is exclusive for only one website, however each domain can have multiple subdomains, for example: business.facebook.com would be a subdomain of facebook.com.

Having your own domain name will help your store to build creditability, increase brand awareness, and search engine positioning.

How to add a domain to your Jumpseller Store

In your Jumpseller store you can start by adding a new domain by going to your Admin Panel: Settings > Domain. This feature will be available once you subscribe to any of our paid Plans. If you subscribed to the plans Plus, Pro or Premium you can request one and only one free Domain.

If you select the option "Get Free Domain" just type your desired Domain, the system will create an internal request and will purchase your selected domain. This domain and it's settings might take from 3 to 24 hours to propagate throughout the Internet.

If you already have a domain you can also integrate it on your store.

Type the domain or subdomain you own and you will see two alternatives: Nameservers and DNS Records, these two alternatives have different recommended configurations.

Make sure you copy the previous configuration and save them in case you need to revert these changes. For example if by accident you changed a record that controls your emails.

  • If you are not using an external Domain Hosing service or you don't want to use one, choose the Nameservers option and follow the recommended configuration in the website you bought the domain.
  • If you are using an external Domain Hosting service with Web Hosting and/or Email Hosting use the DNS Records method. Contact your Hosting Provider and send them the recomended configuration to prevent service interruptions. This step is very important since different hosting providers have different configurations that might be affected if you make these changes.

After you set up your domain you can setup an external email service such as Google Gsuite or Zoho Mail (Free).

What happens with my Domain if I leave Jumpseller?
If you have been in Jumpseller for over six months we can trasnfer the domain to you at no cost. Otherwise our transfer fee is 20 USD.

You can have from 1 to 10 domains poiting to your store depending on your plan. + Basic: 1 + Plus: 2 + Pro: 5 + Premium: 10
